Open
Uno Gelato – Kitsilano
The time has come for one of Vancouver’s most celebrated gelato makers to open up his new joint, Uno Gelato. The first of three new locations from maestro James Coleridge (formerly Bella Gelateria) is officially open at 2579 West Broadway, the old space of a Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt shop.

Dosa & Curry on Davie
There’s a new spot to get dosa and curry in the West End, and its got a killer lunch deal for first-time (and returning) lunchtime patrons to bite into. Aptly named Dosa & Curry on Davie, the Indo Chinese fusion eatery opened July 13 at 1188 Davie Street.

Browns Crafthouse
Located on the first level of the new 10-floor office tower located at 510 Seymour Street (right on the corner of Seymour and Pender), the long-awaited spot for comfort food and brews is now in operation.

Hail Mary’s
Aside from its obvious Catholic church-inspired decor, Hail Mary’s offers a selection of eats including snack and salads like nachos, Korean BBQ chicken lettuce wraps, roast beet, watermelon, and feta salad, and chicharrón to name a few.

Kafka’s Coffee & Tea – Great Northern Way
Kafka’s Coffee & Tea has officially opened their second Vancouver location. The local coffee purveyor is now open as of July 27 at 577 Great Northern Way, this is the former space of Momento Coffee House.

Hunnybee Bruncheonette Pop-up
Described in the post as a small counter-service spot that’s a “daytime operation,” Hunnybee Bruncheonette is going to have everything baked in-house from scratch with carefully selected ingredients from local farms like UBC and Cropthorne.

Mary’s on Davie
Beloved Vancouver institution, Mary’s on Davie, has officially reopened on July 26. Patrons can now head to the 1202 Davie Street restaurant (that’s under new ownership) after an extensive renovation saw its closure last year.

Milssam Tacorea
The Korean Mexican joint offers a menu full of grub like tacos including a spicy pork, cauliflower, BBQ red chicken, kalbee brisket, seafood ceviche, and a ‘Milssam’ variety (beefy belly, onion, lettuce, gochujang vin). Milssam Tacorea also has several share plates like kalbee nachos with kimchi, cauliflower salad, apple kimchi salad, and Korean black bean mole to name a few.

Mumbai Local
Mumbai Local promises authentic Indian street food to Canadians when it opens “soon” at 123 Davie Street. Claiming to be the first and “only Canadian spot specializing in Mumbai street food.”

White Lounge + Kitchen
We’ve been waiting for this fresh spot to open its doors officially after it was operating during a soft launch with shortened hours, and the time has come. The new lounge offers lunch, dinner, and a stellar menu of cocktails.

Horn Ok Please
Horn Ok Please is open at 1162 Denman Street (formerly Falafel & Friends), and the menu features a variety of kathi rolls like butter chicken, chicken tikka, lamb seekh, panner, and mixed veggie, along with several kinds of curry.

Cacao Upstairs
The relaxed 20-seat dining room will be officially launching on August 22, after which patrons can head to the intimate room from 5 to 11 pm from Thursday to Sunday. Try this new spot for yourself when it opens later this month.

Grain Vegetarian Fare
This new spot comes from the same team that brought us The Workshop Vegetarian Cafe located at 296 Pemberton Avenue in North Vancouver. The new healthy purveyor will serve up vegetarian and vegan fare and organic coffee and other beverages in East Vancouver.

Purebread – Mount Pleasant
Located at 5 E 5th Avenue in Mount Pleasant, the new sweet spot will not only have a storefront but also serve as the Vancouver production kitchen too. The Mount Pleasant store is the third bakery for the chain, including the OG Whistler and Gastown locations. We’ll keep you posted on the exact opening date for this spot, stay tuned.

Elephant Garden Creamery
It’s been a long wait, but highly-anticipated Vancouver ice cream spot Elephant Garden Creamery just revealed the address for its first brick and mortar location via Instagram. The new sweet spot will be going in at 2080 Commercial Drive, just steps away from Sushi Ville, the Tangent Cafe, and a Prado Cafe location too.

Jam Cafe – Kitsilano
The new 2,200-sq-ft, 60-65 seat location will be replacing the soon-to-be-shuttered Bistro Pastis at 2153 West 4th Avenue. Patrons can expect the same charming vintage interior, relaxed vibe, outrageously drool-worthy eats, and hours (daily from 8 am to 3 pm) from the third location of the epic brunch spot from co-owners Jim and Candy Walmsley and Mike Deas-Dawlish.

Ugly Dumpling
There’s something brand new in the works for the soon-to-be-shuttered Merchant’s Workshop space, and it sounds like it’s going to be dope. Ugly Dumpling, a new concept from owner Chef Darren Gee (Le Crocodile, Farmers Apprentice, Kinome), is taking over the 1590 Commercial Drive spot and it will open as soon as September.

Seorae Korean BBQ
Korean BBQ king Seorae is opening its very first North American location in Metro Vancouver this summer.

Don Francesco Ristorante
Francesco’s Ristorante, formally Don Francesco’s Ristorante, quietly shuttered in 2017 to the dismay of patrons across the city. Francesco’s is officially gearing up to reopen at 909 Cordova Street, the current location of soon-to-be-closed Hapa Izakaya Coal Harbour.

Moderne Burger/Burgerette
After closing at their OG spot, the eatery has announced they’ll be reopening at a new location in late summer, and it will house two concepts. Patrons will soon find Moderne Burger’s epic shakes and eats at 865 West Broadway, but they’ll also find something new: Burgerette, a “slightly smaller” version of the Moderne Burger.

Ramen Raijin – West Broadway
The new eatery, Ramen Raijin, will be opening at 401 West Broadway in the former home of Menya Ramen. Menya was a long-time fixture in Mount Pleasant and it closed on May 31 after their chef and owner decided to retire.

Tasty Indian Bistro – Yaletown
A member of the Tasty team told Daily Hive that the new location will be in Yaletown, across from Rodney’s Oyster House on Hamilton Street. The space is currently under renovations, but we’re told it will feature seating for approximately 130 people including a heated/retracting patio.

Tormenta
It’s only been a short while since much-loved plant-forward eatery Lucha Verde closed its doors for good on July 22, and Tormenta is replacing it. From the same owners, this new spot is a new destination for Mexican street food, will be setting up shop in the 1326 Davie Street restaurant.
