May 30 2018, 4:43 am

This June there are a lot of great films coming down the pipe. You could go with over-the-top hilarity or straight up action. Heck if you want to get dark and dirty there is a little bit of that too.

Johnny Knoxville returns to his Jackass ways, Shailene Woodley gives an outstanding performance, and Josh Brolin continues the year of the Brolin.

If you want to see one of the scariest films of the year, we have your hook up but maybe you’ll need a dose of Mr. Rogers as a chaser.

Below are 10 films coming out this month that you should definitely check out. Okay, maybe not Action Point, but to each their own.

Action Point

Release Date: June 1, 2018
Cast:  Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, Dan Bakkedahl, and Matt Schulze
Director: Tim Kirkby

From the guys who brought you the Jackass films, that spawned a generation of dumb kids doing really dumb shit, now have their very own movie that actually has a story and characters.

A young girl, who spends a day with her grandfather (Johnny Knoxville), hears stories about how he once owned and operated an amusement park called Action Point that didn’t necessarily follow all safety standards and rules.

Of course, they also do really crazy, “don’t do this at home,” type stunts. The early reviews haven’t been strong, but that won’t stop its built-in audience from going.

Adrift

A film that’s garnering a ton of buzz especially for Shailene Woodley’s performance as the real-life world-traveler Tami Oldham.

After meeting Richard (Sam Claflin) a handsome sailor, Tami joins him on a 4,000-mile voyage across the Pacific Ocean.

During their travel, they learn of an approaching hurricane and attempt to avoid it, unintentionally sailing directly into the storm. Richard tells Tami to go below deck where she is knocked unconscious. When she wakes, the storm is over, the boat is badly damaged, and Richard is nowhere in sight.

This is an incredible true story about survival and love. One of the year’s best films.
