In 2019, the Montreal International Jazz Festival will celebrate its 40 anniversary.

According to the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal website, the world’s biggest jazz festival will continue to flourish into other districts of Montreal and beyond starting in 2019.

The festival aims to become a driving force for tourism and discovery in various neighbourhoods throughout the city. While continuing to occupy its central site and large-scale gatherings at the Quartier des Spectacles, the global festival has already started scouting new “hubs” for other Jazz Fest events to take place.

Jazz Fest will promote a different area every year for 5 years starting in 2019, allowing all of Montreal to benefit from a cultural, economic and touristic standpoint.

“After creating so much wealth for Montréal, and revealing the potential of the Quartier des Spectacles, we are taking up the challenge of going one step further by putting our event at the service of the cultural, social, tourism and economic development of other Montréal neighbourhoods,” says Jacques-André Dupont, CEO of the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal.

These will be tailor-made experiences for the boroughs and their communities and will be accessible free of charge and offer the same artistic quality as the world-renowned Jazz Festival.

In the meantime, the 39th edition of the Montreal Jazz Festival kicks off at the Quartier des Spectacles from June 28 to July 7.
