5 things to do in Montreal today: Thursday, June 21

Happy ‘It’s Officially Summer’ Day, Montreal! Mother Nature has been perfectly in tune with the theme of the first day of summer, because it’s gorgeous outside today, June 21, like it has been all week.

There’s also a bunch of great activities and events to get up to today, and as always, we’ve got you covered.

Stand-up paddleboarding

Instead of simply staring at the Saint Lawrence River, why not stand on it?

SUP (stand-up paddleboarding), SUP Yoga, and SUP Fitness will be available every day starting today so you can paddle board, surf or ride the Saint Lawrence River waves.

And what perfect timing, just in time for summer!

Rentals start at $20 an hour and $10 for each additional hour. They also offer wetsuits to rent for $7 as well as a group 10-rental deal for $150.

Sketch Republic

Montreal Improv wants you to celebrate the solstice with some sketch comedy and you can’t really blame them.

Montreal Improv is a quaint improv theatre and school that runs hilarious shows for real cheap. They’re kicking off their summer programming with Sketch Republic, a sketch comedy variety show.

They claim admission is free if you smell like a pool, might as well test it out!

When: Thursday, June 21

Vance Joy at the Bell Centre

Vance Joy is an Australian singer/songwriter who has enjoyed immense success with his Indie pop/Indie folk album Dream Your Life Away. He is currently on tour promoting his newest album Nation of Two and is at the Bell Centre tonight.

Shopping Blue pop-up shop

Shopping Blue and Fusion Ber are hosting a pop-up shop of home décor products today. They have a variety of items made by Moroccan artisans in a modern style and they have a stellar collection of authentic products from Turkey, Spain, Portugal, and France.

There will be a variety of items such as rugs, cushions, poufs, throws, Turkish hammam towels, tablecloths, and shower curtains.

When: From now until June 23

Yoga on the Beach

Celebrate the start of summer and international yoga day by doing yoga on the beach and then closing off with an epic sunset.

Two teachers from Moksha Yoga West Island will be guiding the session. Challenge yourself by balancing and moving in the sand.

The event urges yoga guests from all levels.
