Police execute search warrants at two cannabis dispensaries in Chilliwack

Jul 14 2018, 12:06 am

Several people were taken into custody following a raid on two marijuana dispensaries in Chilliwack yesterday.

In a release, RCMP said the raids took place following complaints they received about alleged illegal cannabis sales from locations in the 8000-block of Ashwell Road and the 100-block of Old Dyke Road.

In the weeks following the complaints, Chilliwack RCMP officers continued to gather evidence in their investigation leading up to the searches.

Then, at approximately 10 am yesterday, search warrants were executed at both addresses.

Drugs “believed to be marijuana” were seized by officers during the searches, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Now, “evidence will be reviewed” to determine whether police will be submitting all circumstances of the investigation in a report to the BC Prosecutors Service for their assessment of CDSA charges, said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail.

The people taken into custody as part of the incident were later released by RCMP.
