Last minute wedding details many brides forget

You might be the most organized bride ever, but with countless details that go into planning a wedding, comes the risk of forgetting something. As wedding planners, there are a number of details that often go overlooked which we always remind our brides about in the weeks leading up to their wedding day.

1. Vendors confirmations

If you have a wedding planner, this is something that they would take care of 1-2 weeks prior to the wedding day. If you don’t, then it’s a good idea to check in with all your vendors to confirm details that you may have locked in months ago, the most important being timing.

No bride wants to wake up for hair and makeup, only to realize that she didn’t let her artist know the latest time to arrive.

2. Marriage license

This detail is a crucial one. All couples getting married must have a marriage license which can be purchased from your local London Drugs or other insurance provider. Check your local provincial website for more details and locations of where you can pick up the license.

All you need when buying your marriage license is primary identification such as a birth certificate, immigration form, permanent resident card, or citizenship card.

3. Rain plan

In Canada we get our fair share of rain and although nobody plans for their wedding to go down in a rainstorm, it’s important to have a backup plan, just in case. You never know, right?

We actually recommend that if you are opting for an outdoor venue, always ask about rain plan options up front and then you can work out specifics closer to the day.

4. Backup footwear

Even if you have a town car or limo providing you and your wedding party transportation throughout the day, you inevitably will still be having to do a fair share of walking, especially during the timeframe allocated for photos.

We recommend having a pair of foldable flats that can fit into your clutch so you don’t have to worry about your feet or your designer shoes getting damaged as you walk to different shoot locations. This is especially important if you plan to take photos in more rural areas.

If it does rain, having a pair of sneakers or gum boots on hand is definitely recommended, which are often a great photo op themselves.

5. Photo wrangler

All brides have good intentions about getting photos with all the right people, but the reality is that weddings are a very social event so it’s easy for people to get caught up chatting with guests and forget where they’re supposed to be. Designating a “photo wrangler” (someone who’s able to identify all your family and friends that should be included in photos) is super important.

This underrated but very crucial role helps the photographer wrangle guests that need to be included photos. We recommend having a shot list prepared in advance to assist the photo wrangler.
