Canadian company launches the next generation of private messaging

Canadian tech entrepreneurs have launched Vanish, a secure and private messaging platform that lets users communicate securely and have complete control of their data.

Brothers Dylan and Jordan Sidoo and friend Jaiten Gill are the founders of the messaging app and have an extensive experience in security and technology. After witnessing security breaches firsthand and experiencing insecure messaging apps, they decided to create their very own.

The app allows users to speak freely without storing any decryptable information on a cloud service.

Messages can be completely erased indefinitely–even those sent to the receiver’s device. Once deleted, they completely vanish and cannot be recovered.

The app also allows for seven-person encrypted group-video calls, and up to 20,000 user audio calls.

What differentiates other messaging apps such as Whatsapp and Telegram from Vanish is that they lack heightened end-to-end encryption to prevent data breaches.

“We looked at the instant messaging landscape and saw that existing solutions lacked strong encryption from WhatsApp’s cloud service and Telegram’s encryption not on by default. We saw the need for a different kind of technology thus we decided to develop Vanish Messenger,” said Dylan Sidoo in a release.

“It’s important to realize that encryption is vital to everyone, even if there’s nothing to hide. From allowing journalists to communicate with their sources, or lawyers to communicate with clients, encryption allows these conversations to be private. It protects healthcare records, financial institutions and transactions, and criminal justice investigations.”

Vanish had their first early-stage audit performed by Security Advisor Jerry Ma recently, revealing zero exploits.

The app is completely free to download and use, and is available on iTunes and Android.
