US President Donald Trump is expected to make his first official Canadian visit next month.

The President will be in Canada as part of the G7 Summit on June 8 and 9, hosted at the luxurious (and very) remote Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu in the Charlevoix region of Quebec.

The Group of Seven (G7) is an informal grouping of seven of the world’s advanced economies consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

It offers an opportunity for G7 Leaders, Ministers and policy makers to come together each year to build consensus and set trends around some of today’s most challenging global issues.

In December, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the theme for this year’s summit.

“Canada is proud to put forward a progressive agenda for the 2018 G7. The themes we have chosen for the year will help focus our discussions on finding real, concrete solutions to promote gender equality, women’s empowerment, clean energy, and economic growth that works for everyone,” said Trudeau.

The last time the G7 was hosted in Canada was in 2010, when it was in Muskoka, Ontario.
