Calgary Fringe Festival

  • What: Fringes are uncensored, non-juried shows, there are roughly 26 productions creating more than 160 performances over the 9 days. There are a wide variety of shows including imrov, dance, theater, film, and more.

Rise Against with special guest Killswitch Engage and Letlive

  • What: Listen to the band Rise Against and specials guests.
  • Where: Big four- 1410 Olympic Way SE, Calgary
  • When: Tuesday, August 4 at 7p.m.

Shakespeare By The Bow

  • What: Shakespeare by the bow is an fantastic way to spend an evening. You will be watching recently graduated post-secondary actors and actresses from across Alberta perform live theater.

Afrikadey! Festival

  • What: Creative works of African cultures is shared by the Arts & Culture Society. This week long celebration of music, food, dance, film and visual arts of Africa. The main event will be occurring on outside music show on Prince’s Island Park- 698 Eau Claire Ave. SW, Calgary.

#iamdowntown for Pop-Picnics

  • What: Want to go for a picnic? Well these picnics all have different themes, and pop up at different locations. Picnics always host a food vender, entertainment, and games. This week the theme will be Tropical Carnival Picnic.
  • Where: Suncor Energy Centre- 6th ave between Centre and 1st Street SW
  • When: Wednesday, August 5 from noon to 1p.m.

Downtown Street Piano series

  • What: For 4 years, Downtown Calgary has commissioned outdoor street pianos to encourage people to play and listen to music. There are now two pianos, the Woodlands piano located on 3rd street and 6th Avenue SW and the new one, Wee Little piano which features a book exchange, located on 8th ave & Centre Street SW. There will be different artists performing on these pianos on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This week there will be a Jazz performance on the Woodlands piano by Andrea Petrity.

The return of Drive-In movies at Deerfoot mall

  • What: Wednesday nights just got a little more fun thanks to the return of an old-school classic event, a Drive-In Movie series. This wednesday it’s Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark.
  • When: Every Wednesday at sunset
  • Where: Deerfoot Mall- 901 64 Ave NE, Calgary
  • Cost: Free

Captain Cruises

  • What: Ride on Calgary’s only paddlewheel boat while listening to Jazz music and observing the gorgeous Rocky Mountains and views of Glenmore. Sample gourmet hors d’oeuvres and taste a selection of beer & wines. Remember to dress business casual for the event. Complimentary parking at the S.S. Moyie Dock.

Fishing Season at Bow Habitat Station

  • What: Learn how to catch and release fish at this little pond by fishery.

Historic Walks presented by Calgary Ghost Tours

  • What: Walk along the towers of Downtown Calgary and explore the Ghostly Haunts of the different buildings.
  • Where: Starts outside of the Calgary Tower near Ruth and Chris’ entrance

Flames Central: Chasing Summer After Party

  • What: 2 nights of pumping music, featuring VINAI with Sunseekerz and Audyohead on Friday and DVBBS with Ezz & Hiz Cuzzin and Energy on Saturday, presented by UnionElectronic and Ink Promotions.
  • Where: Flames Central- 219 8 Ave SW, Calgary
