What: Fringes are uncensored, non-juried shows, there are roughly 26 productions creating more than 160 performances over the 9 days. There are a wide variety of shows including imrov, dance, theater, film, and more.
What: Creative works of African cultures is shared by the Arts & Culture Society. This week long celebration of music, food, dance, film and visual arts of Africa. The main event will be occurring on outside music show on Prince’s Island Park- 698 Eau Claire Ave. SW, Calgary.
What: Want to go for a picnic? Well these picnics all have different themes, and pop up at different locations. Picnics always host a food vender, entertainment, and games. This week the theme will be Tropical Carnival Picnic.
Where: Suncor Energy Centre- 6th ave between Centre and 1st Street SW
What: For 4 years, Downtown Calgary has commissioned outdoor street pianos to encourage people to play and listen to music. There are now two pianos, the Woodlands piano located on 3rd street and 6th Avenue SW and the new one, Wee Little piano which features a book exchange, located on 8th ave & Centre Street SW. There will be different artists performing on these pianos on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This week there will be a Jazz performance on the Woodlands piano by Andrea Petrity.
Where: Woodlands-Corner of 6th ave and 3rd Street SW, Calgary
What: Ride on Calgary’s only paddlewheel boat while listening to Jazz music and observing the gorgeous Rocky Mountains and views of Glenmore. Sample gourmet hors d’oeuvres and taste a selection of beer & wines. Remember to dress business casual for the event. Complimentary parking at the S.S. Moyie Dock.
