The six horses that were stolen from a farm on December 6 have now been returned to their owners safe and sound.

It was believed by police that the horse thief/thieves arrived on the night of December 6 with a truck and trailer, loaded the six horses, and drove off from the Winfield area farm.

According to a release from Breton RCMP, the horses were located by a local citizen in Wetaskiwin County on Tuesday night.

They have since been returned to their owner, and do not appear to have suffered any physical harm.

“This is the type of news story that feels good to put out,” says Breton RCMP Corporal Will Hiscock, in the release.

“We can only imagine the happiness that the owners feel to have their loved horses returned.”

The investigation into the initial theft of the horses is still underway, however, and the RCMP encourages anyone with information on the thieves to contact the RCMP Livestock Inspector at 403-701-1462, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477, or online through their website.
