Jin Jung Kwan Hapkido Canada offers ‘Street effective hapkido’ . The women’s self defence classes are designed for women to learn how to protect themselves in adverse situations, what to do when harm comes your way and how to get away.

At Studios Group Martial Arts Calgary, they say they specialize in teaching women self-defence skills that give them confidence and could even save their lives. They will teach you how to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations and help defend yourself against an aggressor regardless of size.

This course is run as a spring/summer registered program at Saddletowne YMCA. Classes start April 9 and will be held on Saturdays for 11 weeks. The course also offers safety tips for everyday life situations.

Crowfoot YMCA also run’s their self defence classes in the spring/summer. They offer two six week courses, one starting April 5 and the other starting May 17.

At Yoon’s Martial Arts School they say upon mastering the art of Hap Ki-Do, a student will achieve the skills necessary to defend him/herself from all angles and positions of attack. Along with being able to resolve potentially violent situations with minimal or no force.

The ladies self defence classes at Odyssey are separate seminars available to all students and the public. They teach the COVAR Self Defence system and believe it is a must for all women in our society.

Within their adult classes, RDW Martial Arts Academy will teach you self defence (Hapkido) techniques. They say their program develops not only the body physically, mentally and emotionally but encourages students to step outside their comfort zone and experience martial arts as a sport to be enjoyed by any one at any physical level.

SAIT offers a course on self defence that is for women only. They say it will empower women to avoid and manage confrontational situations. This interactive course will teach women safety awareness, risk reduction, power in self defence and support systems

At Destiny Martial Arts they offer a program for adults and teens 13 and older. They say the program is an excellent form of exercise and Self Defence.
