5 ways to scare yourself silly in Calgary this month

It’s almost Halloween… the season of screams.

Tired of watching scary movies and leaving the frights on the screen? Why not immerse yourself in a truly 4-D horror?

Calgary is delivering many ways for you to get freaky this month, and we’ve put together a list of five perfect ways to get those scares going.

What’s scarier than a haunted house? A haunted yard. As if Hollywood wasn’t scary enough — this year Hollywood becomes haunted.

Haunted Calgary’s website advertises that this is the largest walk-through haunted yard attraction in Calgary. Make your way through approximately 10,000-sq-ft of terror!

When: October 26, 27, 31

Time: 2 to 4 pm (half scare), 6 to 10 pm (full scare)

Where: 222 Rocky Ridge Bay NW Calgary

Admission: Tickets can be purchased online. Prices vary, adults $12, students/seniors $8, Children 6 to 12 $5, free for children under 5

Profits from this event go towards Calgary Animal Rescue Society and the Calgary Food Bank. That’s SCARY generous!

Aspen Crossing’s Train of Terror

Fans of Ozzy Ozbourne may have listened to Crazy Train, but have they ever ridden on one? This annual train ride lasts for approximately 1.5 hours, and runs from October 12 to November 3. Walk through four “fright cars” to get to a Halloween Party waiting for you at the end of the ride!

When: October 12 to November 3

Time: 7 or 9 pm (Lasts for approx. 90 minutes)

Where: Highway 24, Mossleigh

Admission: Tickets can be bought online. Adults $12, students/seniors $8, children 6 to 12 $5, free for children under 5

Grim Manor Haunted House

What’s better than one haunted house? Three haunted houses. Grim Manor stretches over 7,000-sq-ft and consists of three separate haunted houses. Their website advertises live music and performances from America’s Got Talent contestants/comedy daredevils Ryan Stock and Amberlynn.

When: October 12 to 31

Time: 7 pm to midnight

Where: 88 Canada Olympic Road SW Calgary

Admission: Tickets are available online. Starting at $20 (prices vary).

Field of Screams

Starting this Friday, there will be four haunted attractions at Cobb’s Corn Maze. The four themes are Mad House, Scary Tales, Aliens, and the Cornfield of Terror. Take your pick, or do all four — if you dare!

When: October 5 to 27

Time: 6 to 10 pm

Where: 1500 84th Street NE Calgary

Ghouls’ Night Out

Scared your kids will be too terrified at the Haunted Houses above? Fear not – Heritage Park has the solution. Ghouls’ Night Out is a way to treat your children this Halloween. While all kids and parents are welcome, The experience is recommended for children aged three to nine. Their website says that kids can walk along decorated streets, meet actors, make crafts, listen to ghost stories and more!

When: October 25 to 28

Time: Times vary based on date
