Check out an amazing roller skate party in Calgary this Saturday

Fans of the roller disco should be delighted to hear that roller skating is coming back to Calgary in a big way this weekend.

While our collective hearts were shattered when Lloyd’s Roller Rink — a well-loved building that was an arena for countless dates and birthday parties — shut down earlier this year, it appears that a few organizers are picking up those broken pieces and putting them back together again.

The roller skate party will be held at Huntington Hills Community Association on Saturday, June 9 from 6 to 10 pm.

Live music will be provided by DJ Rey Creole throughout the night, and the Vancouver Water City Rollers will be on scene for some high-speed entertainment.

Tickets are $10 a pop and they will land you four hours of skating your heart out, with all the entertainment included.

Fresh Rollers will have roller skates ready for rental, and Shop Task will be bringing the roller blades for anyone who prefers their wheels a little more in-line than the old school skates.

“It will be a party that you DON’T want to miss,” promises the event’s Facebook page, which is hosted by Debbie Nance, Jacob Hull, Rob Layton, and Olivia Ollydolly Brownell.

“Invite your friends! Share the word! Come skate your heart out, have a blast, and support the Calgary roller skating community!”

So… who’s down for a few laps, for old time’s sake?
