Two of the country’s major service providers are about to hike up internet prices for their subscribers.

Rogers Communications have confirmed that as of Monday, March 12, their internet packages with download speeds of 20 Mbps or more will be increased by $8 per month, and packages with download speeds under 20 Mbps will be increased by $4 per month.

According to the telecom giant, demand for capacity continues to grow by more than 40% each year.

“We regularly review our plans, and from time to time, we make changes,” said a Rogers spokesperson. “We’re continually investing to deliver great value and fast, reliable internet for our customers now and in the future as demand continues to grow.”

Meanwhile, Bell Canada says it will increase its costs, but its not applicable to all provinces.

As of April 1, Bell’s internet services will be adjusted by $5 in Ontario and $3 in Quebec.
