Save those bottles, milk jugs, and yogurt containers, Calgary – it’s time to get recycling.

The City of Calgary announced that, starting today, recycling in Calgary is now mandatory in multi-family homes such as condos, apartments, townhouses or “any other building or development with five or more units on a single parcel of land.”

Complexes will now have to provide on-site recycling for materials accepted by single family Blue Cart recycling services. While how each complex provides the services is up to them, complexes that don’t provide services at all could be subject to a fine under the city bylaw.

More information for owners and tenants can be found on the City of Calgary website.
