A pink moon, did you say?

No you did not see that incorrectly, but yes you have every right to be skeptical.

Much like a blue moon, or a strawberry moon, a pink moon does not quite live up to its name.

The pink moon is an April phenomenon. When the full moon shines in April, the moon is referred to as the pink moon, or the full pink moon.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the name comes from the Native American practice of giving titles to full moons. In April, the first sightings of herb moss pink and wild ground phlox, are signs of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring.

The pink moon also has other names it goes by, sometimes called a Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon or the Full Fish Moon.

So no it’s not really pink, but it’s quite the breathtaking moon.

Scheduled to light up the sky early tomorrow morning, around 6:08 am, the pink moons glow is totally worth waking up a wee bit earlier.
