15 photos of the Tragically Hip's last ever concert in Calgary

It was a sad farewell for The Tragically Hip as they played their final Calgary concert at the Saddledome on Wednesday night.

The Hip have embarked on their final tour following lead singer Gordon Downie’s terminal brain cancer diagnosis. The band kicked off their Man Machine Poem tour in Victoria and played two sold out shows here in Calgary.

If you couldn’t make it to the final show of the Calgary leg of The Tragically Hip’s farewell tour, check out these photos.

Hard to believe last night was my last Hip concert…what a night! #thetragicallyhip #yyc #bestnight

My first real show was seeing The Hip back in 2000 at Memorial Stadium in St. John's (which is now a supermarket…) I've since seen them live more than any other band (whose members are not employed at Rocket or Fixed bakery), and going into this show last night, I felt that it would be very bittersweet, given the circumstances. Thankfully, it was far from bitter, and was just a huge celebration of life, music and the the unexplainable way the two intermingle for 20 000 people all at once. When I first became interested in the rock and roll music, there was The Hip, and I don't think there will ever be another band that wraps up whatever it means to be Canadian as well as they have done. Even though the band is coming to an end, the music will live on, and I feel lucky to have been involved in any way. #thetragicallyhip #thehip #canada #yyc #saddledome #courageforgord #thanks

Last night was the definition of #bittersweet. I lost control of my emotions before Gord Downie even started singing. I'm amazed and inspired by how #selfless the entire band and Gord Downie is for putting on a final tour across Canada for their fans. Gord truly looked happy as he was singing his heart out and dancing on the stage, in a way that only he can. I'm truly happy that I was able to see them one last time with @d_wayne82, a Kingston boy himself. #thankyou for leaving a legacy of music, something I truly believe helped shape my taste in music and could be considered a soundtrack to many Canadian lives. #itsbeenapleasuredoingbusinesswithyou #courageforgord #courage #canadianmusic #thetragicallyhip #thehip #gorddownie
