The German folk festival, Oktoberfest, is here already and it is starting off with a bang.

Below are some suggestions on how to spend your Oktoberfest both traditionally and non-traditionally:

Oktoberfest Events in Calgary 2015

Oktoberfest Kickoff Bash

  • What: Kickoff celebrating Oktoberfest with this bash featuring official KEG tapping with special guest Rhett Warrener, Chef Rudy’s Patio Pig Roast, Schuhplattler dancers, live Oomaph with The German Knights, DJ Stein, Erdinger Bar, Oktoberfest feature menu, stein locker giveaway and stein holding contests.
  • Where: WURST – 2437 4 St SW, Calgary
  • When: Friday, September 18 at 5 p.m.

Oktoberfest with Steam Whistle

  • What: Hoist up a collectible stein full of Steam Whistle Pilsner and  Enjoy German food, dancers and music.
  • Where: WURST – 2437 4 St. SW, Calgary
  • When: Saturday, September 19 at 5 p.m.
  • Cost: $25 for advanced, $30 at the door

Steam Whistle Stein & Sausage Party

  • What: Grab your Lederhosen and Order 1L of Steam Whistle Pilsner and keep the stein, try the Alberta Pork Oktoberfest features and Spin-to-Win your way into Calgary Oktoberfest on the prize wheel.
  • Where: The Libertine Public House – 223 8 Ave SW, Calgary
  • When: Monday, September 21 from 4 to 7 p.m.
  • Cost: $9

Erdinger Oktoberfest Feast

  • What: Have a dinner hosted by Executive Chef Ruediger Schmid in the Beer Hall.
  • Where: WURST – 2437 4 St. SW, Calgary
  • When: Tuesday, September 22 from 5 to 11 p.m.
  • Cost: $45 per person

Calgary Oktoberfest

  • What: Guten Tag! Calgary Oktoberfest is a celebration of community and beer! Taste brews from Germany and all of Calgary’s amazing craft brewers. The event also includes live music and great food.
  • Where: The BIG Four Building – 20 Roundup Way, Calgary
  • When: Friday, September 25 from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, September 26 from 2 to 9:00 p.m.
  • Cost: $19 for a one day pass; $30 for a weekend pass

Gluten Free Oktoberfest

  • What: Join the Calgary Celiac Association, GFYYC and Amber Approved for their first annual Gluten Free Oktoberfest.
  • Where: Craft Beer Market – 345 10th Ave SW, Calgary
  • When: Tuesday, October 6 from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Cost: $65

NHCA – Oktoberfest & Fundraiser

  • What: Gamble in a 50/50 raffle, win door prizes, play games and have fun! Your ticket will include the Door Prize draw, All-You-Can-Eat Appetizer and non-alcoholic drinks and 1 alcoholic drink.
  • Where: The Canadian Brewhouse – 9650 Harvest Hills Boulevard N ,Calgary
  • When: Saturday, October 17 from 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Cost: $25

Oktoberfest at The Austrian-Canadian Society and Cultural Centre

  • What: Be entertained at a buffet luncheon on October 22 and 29 or enjoy a dinner and dance on October 23 and 24. There will be a variety of great Australian-German style food for you to try at this Oktoberfest.
  • Where: The Austrian-Canadian Cultural Centre – 3112 11 St NE, Calgary
  • When: Thursday, October 22 and 29 (buffet luncheon and entertainment) at 11:30 a.m. and Friday, October 23 and 24 (dinner and dance) at 5:30 p.m.
  • Cost: $26 for October 22 & 29 and $46 for October 23 & 24
