We know you don’t want to think about it, but the reality is your parents are probably having better sex than you–at least that’s what we’ve taken away from a recently-released survey by condom manufacturer Trojan.
The sexual health survey, which looks at what’s going on in the bedrooms of Canada’s 40 to 59-year-olds, found that people are getting more adventurous with age.
In fact 63% of the 2,400 people surveyed claimed they were more likely to try new things in the bedroom than they were a decade ago. And the adventurous action is paying off for the older generation with 65% of respondents describing their last action between the sheets as “very pleasurable.”
Alongside trying new things in the bedroom the survey also found that your parents are enjoying plenty of action between the sheets. According to the results, about 40% of married/cohabiting respondents report having sexual encounters once or more per week, while 30% of singles between 40-59 report the same frequency.
That sex is lasting between 16 and 30 minutes for a lucky 75% of respondents, with up to 11 minutes spent on foreplay for 70% of singles and 54% of married couples. And is if that wasn’t enough, 47% of respondents said that they’d enjoyed oral sex during their past encounter too.
Are you still reading? Because there’s more. Indeed Trojan’s survey also lifted the lid on middle-aged Canadians’ masturbatory habits.
60% of men between 40 and 59 claimed to masturbate more than once per week, which is significantly higher than the 23% of women who admitted the same thing. Trojan also found that people are masturbating less with age, although 74% of men and 50% of women aged 50 to 59 still admitted to self administering pleasure on a monthly basis.
So there you have it. Not only are your parents probably having more sex than you, they’re likely to be enjoying it more too.
