Mango Mania: Late night mostly mango quick-serve restaurant now open

Mango, mango, mango: You might say Mango Mania is crazy about mangoes.

The casual quick-serve and take-out restaurant is now open in Crescent Heights, and offers fans of mango a haven in YYC thanks to their menu of mango-centred drinks and desserts, as well as a selection of bao buns to nibble on.

Inspired by the tantalizing tastes of Asian street food, Mango Mania is the project of local food biz vets (one of the restaurant’s partners is Calgary’s Bubblemania Cafe).

Using the concept of Taiwanese “guo baos,” the food menu at Mango Mania consists of bao buns–a perfect delivery system–filled with savoury combos, like Spicy Korean Chicken, Miso Mushroom, and Roast Duck. They’re $4 apiece, but if you pick up a set of three ($12) you can choose from a green mango salad or a dessert as a bonus.

Desserts, incidentally, include Mango Panna Cotta, or Hong Kong-style Mango Pudding.

Of course, if you’re wondering where all the mango might be, it’s over on the drinks side. They’ve got “shaken and stirred” drinks such as a (booze-free) Mango Mojito or a Mango Lemonade, along with blended drinks, from slushes to shakes and smoothies, as well as a menu of Green Tea options.

Ideal for a late night bite, Mango Mania is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 am to 11 pm, Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 2 am, and Sunday 11 am to 11 pm. Mango Mania is closed on Mondays.
