JazzYYC Summer Jazz Festival is back in Calgary this weekend

The JazzYYC Summer Jazz Festival has returned to Calgary, and there are plenty of cool shows and events to check out between now and Saturday.

According to a release from festival organizers, this year’s musical celebration is set to be the largest JazzYYC festival to date, spanning four days, multiple venues, and an entire host of local talent.

The festival kicked off at noon on Thursday on Stephen Avenue, where Frisson completed their sound check and performed some live music for attendees.

Anyone looking to check out some live music on Thursday night can swing by the Art on 9th (1211B 9th Avenue SE), the Ironwood Stage & Grill (1229 9th Avenue SE), the Mainstage at MRU (18 Mount Royal Circle SW), or Lolitas (1413 9th Avenue SE) for various concerts.

The music will continue into the weekend before finally wrapping up on Sunday, June 17.

Prices on admission differ depending on the concert and venue, though the most expensive comes in at $50, many of the events are free to attend, and there is a student discount for all paid shows.
