Jazz YYC summer festival offers exciting acts this week

Jazz YYC Summer Festival kicks off it’s MainStage acts tomorrow with afternoon shows on Stephen Avenue running all week.

The MainStage at the Ironwood Stage and Grill begins Thursday with trumpet player Jens Lindemann’s quartet featuring pianist Tommy Banks.

Next up, pianist/composer/trombonist Hugh Fraser’s VEJI big band (Vancouver Ensemble for Jazz Improvisation) hits the MainStage on Friday, while vocalist and pianist Laila Biali is coming on Saturday.

Sunday evening, Marianne Trudel from Montreal will play the piano with her trio and an exciting double bill on Monday will feature Trudel and Hugh Fraser.

Lastly, there’s going to be a late night series at Lolita’s Lounge on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, featuring many great artists.
