Free coffee and hot chocolate at 7-Eleven Bring Your Own Mug Day

The success of 7-Eleven’s Slurpee Bring Your Own Cup Day – which saw jars, pots, and even fishbowls being used to house a Slurpee – has urged the popular convenience store chain to create another, similar day to celebrate reusable containers.

Bring Your Own Mug Day is the first of its kind for 7-Eleven, allowing customers to arrive with their own (clean and sealable) thermos, mug, coffee pot, or anything in between for a complimentary fill of their favourite hot beverage at any participating location.

Bring Your Own Mug Day falls on September 29 to celebrate National Coffee Day, and 7-Eleven is offering a free fill of their coffee, hot chocolate, or Pumpkin Spice Latte – syrups, toppings, and condiments are also on the house (as usual).

Not a bad time for some free coffee, as the end of September generally feels more like the real start of fall, with all the warm drinks, stylin’ scarves, and, of course, fancy lattes that come with the new season.

Unfortunately, not all mugs are welcome, as the container in question has to be less than 26 centimetres in diameter – so leave those industrial sized barrels at home, please and thank you.

There is incentive to bring the biggest thermos possible, however, if it’s your goal to get the maximum bang for your buck time, as it is only one fill per person, per day.

September 29 isn’t the only time to get a free drink from 7-Eleven, either. Due to their new 7Rewards points program, every seventh cup is free – as long as you collect the points – though it’ll be back to the regular old paper cups for that free cup o’ Joe.

So, who’s going for that coffee run?
