Happy 150th Canada! Need free stuff to do Canada Day? We got you!

It’s Canada’s 150th Birthday, and Calgary is going to celebrate like none other! There are so many things going on across this big and beautiful country, but we have all the local free events down for you.

Canada Day celebrations at Confederation Park

The celebration happening at Confederation Park is sure to deliver as it is FREE, and they are offering a pancake breakfast, horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, the opening of a time capsule from 1967 and much more! Get there early to avoid the line for pancakes!

Visit Studio Bell and you’ll get to experience live music from all over Canada along with interactive exhibitions. There are also some surprises in store so this event is a must.

Canada Day at Olympic Plaza

Stop by Olympic Plaza on Canada Day for live jazz, line dancing, opera, DJs, ballet, beat-boxing, improv, roving performers and more. DON’T MISS: 150+ strong guitar riff of Four Strong Winds (1:30pm) and CIBC Citizenship Reaffirmation Ceremony (2pm). Olympic Plaza activities run from 10am – 6pm. Tegan and Sara Performance at Riverfront Ave

Spend your Canada Day by listening to the Emmy nominated vocals of Calgary’s own Tegan and Sara. The local celebrities will play for their home downtown Calgary on Riverfront Ave. Don’t forget about the amazing fireworks that will take place after the show!

What is more fun than being a part of a living flag that will be shared across the country on social media! Check out Fort Calgary, and get there early to get your shirt because only the first 1500 people will get one. That may sound like a ton, but in a city home to 1.2 million people, they will go fast!

King Eddy Canada Day Party

What are you doing for Canada Day?! The National Music Centre has a ton of Canada Day programming happening on July 1, which will extend to a series of concerts at the King Eddy that goes from 12-6pm. Head to the King Eddy and get in with no cover charge! Enjoy a diverse array of local acts from #yyc rockers @thetorchettes to hip hop duo @dragonfliempire – there’s a little something for everyone at the King Eddy’s Canada Day Celebration! If you have a few wobbly pops, you can get a ride! @bell is offering complimentary karaoke pedicab service, where you can pay for your fare by singing your fave Canadian tune! As always Spruce Meadows is on board to deliver a great day filled with many activities including the Pan-American Tournament, pony rides, face painting and Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra concert.
