BC cannabis is about to get another boom.

Emerald Plants Heath Source (EPHS), together with its wholly owned subsidiary, Merritt Valley Cannabis, announced today that it has received its license for Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation (ACMPR) from Health Canada.

EPHS may now produce cannabis for medicinal and recreational purposes, including licensed products such as dried or fresh cannabis flower, cannabis oil, starting materials and plants at the Company’s state-of-the art facility, based in Quebec, Canada. They are expanding its operations to Canada’s west coast in Merritt, BC, with the ability to scale to 1.2 million sq. ft.

Yes. More thanĀ one million square feet.

Phase one is expected to begin in early 2019 for production and extraction facilities, and is scheduled to open in 2020.

The 56-acre expansion will also host a research and development building.

“What excites us is the economic development benefits that the Merritt Valley Cannabis project will bring to theĀ City of Merritt,” said EPHS CEOĀ Gianfranco Bentivoglio in a press release.Ā

“Recent studies have shown that a one million square foot cannabis facility can produce up to 500 direct and indirect jobs and an estimatedĀ one billion dollarsĀ of economic benefits for the region.”

Stevan Perry, CEO of Merritt Valley Cannabis and former VP of Energy and Major Projects of The Green Organic Dutchman, stated “Our expansion plans and methodologies for Merritt Valley are based on industry experience and learned understandings.”

“With the focus of coupling our high yield cultivation methods and IP with our industry leading low-cost energy rate, we are confident this will position us to be one of the lowest cost producers in the industry at $0.80/g CAD.”
