Easter Sunday is right around the corner, and the City of Calgary is making a few adjustments for the long weekend.
A few city services will be closed during the holiday, while others will be open for shortened hours.
The most exciting of all (as usual) are the free activities offered to celebrate the long weekend.
Calgary Transit will be operating on shortened hours for Good Friday, March 30, running at a Sunday level of service.
Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will have their usual level of service.
On-street parking will be free for Calgary drivers on Friday, March 30 and Sunday, April 1. Holiday rates will be charged at select parkades and surface lots in the city.
Free swimming will be offered at Acadia Aquatic and Fitness Centre, Killarney Aquatic and Recreation Centre, Renfrew Aquatic and Recreation Centre, and Sir Winston Churchill Aquatic and Recreation Centre this Easter Sunday.
The free swims will occur from 1 to 2:30 pm and 3 to 4:30 pm.
City landfills will be be open from 7:30 am to 5 pm on Friday, March 30 and Monday, April 2, but closed on Sunday, April 1.
Village Square Leisure Centre will be open from 11 am to 5 pm on Friday and Sunday, though Southland Leisure Centre will only be open on the Friday, but not the Sunday.
Waste and recycling services in the city will operate as usual.
All City of Calgary administration buildings will be closed from Friday, March 30 to Sunday, April 1. This includes City Hall.
All athletic parks, golf courses, and the North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres will be closed the full weekend through (March 30 to April 1), and the following centres will be closed on Friday, March 30 and Sunday, April 1:
