The City of Calgary landfills will be moving from a six-day to four-day per week operation schedule due to the current economic situation.

Over the past year, city landfills have seen a significant drop in waste. The City says in order to bring their budget back in line a reduction in operations days need to take place.

“While there is a reduction, we have made sure that at least one landfill site is available every day and we will now have a site available on Sundays all year round,” commented The City on their Facebook page.

In a release the City of Calgary said, “the schedules are staggered so that at least one site is open every day, including Sundays and most statutory holidays.”
