If one thing’s for certain, visiting Canada during the winter needs to be at the top of every traveller’s bucket list.

From skating on the world’s largest naturally frozen ice rink in Ottawa to skiing on the most incredible conditions in Vancouver, Canada is home to some of the most unparalleled winter vacation activities in the world.

And it turns out, two of our fine nation’s unique winter activities has caught the attention of Bloomberg in a recent article that featured some of the top winter vacations in the world.

In a piece titled ‘The Best Winter Vacations for People Who Want to Do Nothing‘, Bloomberg rounded-up a number of luxury winter getaways that are ideal for those who want to experience the beauty of winter.

The first Canadian destination featured can be found in British Columbia on Vancouver Island at the Wickaninnish Inn.

From November through February, Wickaninnish Inn visitors have front row seats to some of the most incredible winter storms, featuring monstrous 30-foot swells and powerful gale-force winds.

According to Bloomberg, the Wickaninnish Inn was designed for storm watching, as each of the Inn’s room features an unobstructed view of the ocean – giving you the best views of the raging winter storms.

The more adventurous guests can get outfitted in rain gear and head down to the beach where they can get up close and personal with the storm, and experience a “west coast facial,” which is when the rain blows sideways in the wind and hits your face.

In addition to storm chasing, visitors can also relax with an actual facial at the Inn’s critically acclaimed Ancient Cedars Spa.

The second Canadian destination to receive some recognition is Fogo Island in Newfoundland, and if you’re looking to get off-the-grid this winter, this is the place to be.

Bloomberg recommends staying at the Fogo Island Inn, which is a “haven for artists, foodies, and burnt-out urbanites looking for rest and relaxation.”

At the Inn, guests can truly connect with nature by tracking caribou by snowshoe during the winter months or watch the massive blocks of ice float down Iceberg Alley from Greenland to the North Atlantic in March.

For those looking for more of a relaxing stay can enjoy films at the Inn’s 37-seat cinema,  check out the latest exhibit at the Inn’s gallery, which features work by artists and curators who participated in the Fogo Island Arts international residency program.

But more importantly, guests can unwind in the Inn’s rooftop hot tubs, which provide the most incredible views of the coast.
