Jul 10 2018, 3:47 am

A new study from Silver Swan Recruitment (SSR) has ranked Canada ranked as one of the best countries in the world for LGBTQ workers.

“In our LGBT Worldwide Workplace Index, we have reviewed several key factors including workplace discrimination laws, employee rights, minimum wage and the inclusion of the LGBT community,” said SSR.

To compile the rankings list, SSR analyzed a number of factors, which they said included:

  • LGBT Employment Laws
  • Minimum Wage
  • Unemployment Rate

For each category, every country was awarded a score from 0-3, with 3 being the best score.

This score was based on a weighted ranking for each category.

The category scores were added together to find each country’s total index score, with a total of 18 being the highest possible result.

The top 30 scoring countries were awarded a spot on the LGBTQ Worldwide Workplace Index.

And cracking the top 20, coming in at #18 (right behind Ireland, and right in front of Israel), was Canada.
