Another day, another dominating win for Team Canada at the World Hockey Championships. This time Belarus was the victim as Canada’s offence once again went to work in an 8-0 blowout this morning to improve to 3-0 at the tournament.

Matt Duchene led Canada with a goal and two assists while six other skaters had multi-point nights. Cam Talbot had an easy time in goal making just 13 saves for his first shutout of the tournament.

“It’s very similar to last year where we don’t get bad habits,” Duchene said. “We take care of business for 60 minutes.”

For the second straight game, Canada only led by one goal after the first period, but was able to break out for four goals in the second.

“They had a good first period and we didn’t get upset that we only had one goal. We refocused and after the first intermission came back hard in the second.”

The prettiest of Canada’s eight goals was a nifty passing play between the Mark’s – Schiefele and Stone – that ended in an easy tap-in.

Canada has now outscored opponents 20-2 in their three games this tournament

“You look at the firepower that we have on the team it’s no question we’re going to generate things,” said Michael Matheson. “It’s great that we’re clicking so well together.”

Canada’s last loss at the World Championships came May 22, 2014. Since then, the team has won thirteen straight games. They’ll hope to extend that streak on Thursday against Germany at a watchable time, 11:15 a.m.
