Calgary could see record-breaking temperatures this week

Dec 5 2017, 1:10 am

No, we’re not pulling your leg.

While we may see a few snowflakes today, the rest of the week is nothing but sun, sun, and more sun.

Things get steadily warmer each day, until Saturday comes around with a blazing high of 14°C.

Calgary weather this week (Environment Canada)

The record high for December 9 in Calgary was set all the way back in 1890, according to Environment Canada, when temperatures reached 14.4°C. The average high for that day is a cool -0.8°C, so even if Saturday doesn’t turn out to have record-breaking warmth, it’s still better than freezing… at least in our books.

Calgary will cool off to a nice 10°C come Sunday, but that’s still a tad bit warmer than the average low of -12.7°C, or the record low of -35.7°C, as it was back in 1977.

Basically, enjoy the sun while you can!
