It’s time to say goodbye to the sun folks and get ready for a rainy few days.

Severe thunderstorm watch is in effect Calgary Thursday, June 8.

“A low pressure system approaching Alberta from the Pacific Northwest will develop severe thunderstorms on the Alberta foothills late this afternoon. These thunderstorms will move north and northeast and persist well into the evening. These severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail, and very strong wind gusts. The thunderstorms are expected to be in the Calgary area early this evening. The thunderstorm area is expected to expand this evening and persist into the night. The thunderstorm watch area will likely be expanded east and north later this afternoon.”

Beware of very large hail and strong wind gusts that can damage property, break windows, dent vehicles and cause serious injury.

Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
