All the heat sounds good in theory, but after today’s parade it might seem unbearable.

Unfortunately for those that are sweating through their plaid shirts the heat isn’t letting up.

For all the people loving this weather, you’re in for a great weekend!

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning Alert for Calgary with temperatures reaching 33°C on Sunday, July 9.

In a statement issued this morning, officials said “A long period with maximum daily temperatures reaching near 29C or above and minimum overnight temperatures near 14C continues. This will be an unusually long duration high temperature event lasting through the weekend.”

Yup, that’s hot.

Stampeders take notice – it’ll be a hot weekend so you’ll need to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade when heading down to the grounds.

Officials have put together a few tips to survive the heat:

  • Consider rescheduling outdoor activities to cooler hours of the day.
  • Take frequent breaks from the heat, spending time outdoors at your house or at cooled public buildings (including malls or indoor pools).
  • Drink plenty of water and other non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverages to stay hydrated.
  • Do not leave any person or pet inside a closed vehicle, for any length of time.
