We’ve all been there – life is hectic, chaotic even, and you need a break, but don’t have the time for a full on vacation.

What can you do to catch your breath, rejuvenate your soul and cleanse your heart? Go on a staycation! Half of the excitement of going on vacation is staying a hotel, and there are definitely plenty in, or around Calgary for you to choose from.

Here are a few suggestions to get you on your way to your next stay-cation!

Pick the day

You may need to play hooky mid-week, or find a weekend that isn’t full.

Whatever the case, find a time that fits your schedule, and fast; then start planning. Planning a staycation can be just as exciting as a distant one.

The beauty of a stay-cation is that you can go solo, or invite a best friend/partner to tag along with you.

Ask yourself what do you need right now

In order to have a meaningful break, you need to know what you need as a release.

Is it a soulful retreat filled with yoga and spiritual nourishment? Do you prefer to be pampered like the prince/princess you are? Enjoying spa treatment and a glass of wine?

Maybe you need to escape from the fast pace, and getting a room to binge Netflix with room service for 24 hours?

Find it!

Google is your new best friend. Find a hotel that suits what you and your budget are looking for (here’s a hint, mid week hotels are sometimes cheaper than the weekend!)

Here are three suggestions to find you just what you need.

Soulful Retreat

Grab a room at the Caribou Lodge and Spa in Banff and spend the day at the Holistic Lounge just a few blocks away. Between these two blissful locations your soul will receive all the healing it needs to get back to it.

Pampered Prince or Princess

Cheers to the weekend!

The Fairmont Palliser is sure to make you feel like a prince or princess by the time you leave. This hotel is elegant and it offers its guests a beautiful pool and spa to whisk you away to what feels like a fairytale.

If you’re looking for something more modern and with an awesome pool, try Hotel Arts for some rest and fun.

Netflix and Room Service

If you’re ballin on a budget, and prefer some time to just veg out the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre offers room at a decent rate; starting at $130 a night. They have 24-hour room service as well as two restaurants on site.

But, lets be honest, room service is all you’ll need!

The perfect B&B

Check out Canada’s bed and breakfast website and find the perfect one for you. Like the River Wynde Executive Bed & Breakfast or an Uptown Mount Royal Bed and Breakfast.

Go!

Now all you need to do is pack your bag and head out. Don’t forget to turn your phone off. Commit to no emails or distractions the entire 24-48 hours.

Make sure to treat yourself by getting a massage, swimming in the pool, and enjoying all of the services the hotel has to offer.

Ahh, Relief

Now that you’ve had time to let your mind, body and soul refresh you’ll be ready to get back to the day-to- day and kill it!
