7 places close to the Saddledome to eat and drink before a Flames game

As charming as it can be to grab a hot dog and a plastic cup of beer at the game, you’ll be pumped to know that you can pre-game at a place so close by you can smell it.

Here are seven of the closest places to the Saddledome that are good for grabbing a bite and a drink before the Flames’ game.

1. Vagabond

About a five minute walk from the ‘dome is this sweet spot to grab grub like wings, burgers, and pizza. You’ll want to bring your beer league here to drink up their awesome local craft brews including Cold Garden and Annex Ale Project.

2. Cardinale

Having opened its doors recently, this sister restaurant to Hayden Block Smoke & Whiskey serves up pasta made from scratch, must-have crispy and cheesy risotto balls, and deliciously crafted cocktails. You’ll be so damn happy you’ll be hiding your food baby under your oversized jersey.

3. Melrose Café & Bar a.k.a The Heart of the Red Mile

Located in the Vegas-style Cowboys Casino, this was Melrose’s second (but now only) location after being in business in Calgary for over 20 years. This popular joint is the perfect place to kick off your pre-gaming with burgers, build-your-own nachos, and beer that’s only a seven minute walk from the Saddledome.

4. Zen8 Grill

Tucked inside of Cowboy’s Casino, this teppanyaki grill house has everything from steak tenderloin to noodle dishes like pad Thai to sushi and sashimi with plenty of sake bombs to down before the game starts.
