Aug 30 2017, 5:30 am

The flags will be flying, the costumes will be stylin’, and 6th Avenue will be partying this Sunday when the Calgary Pride Parade marches its way throughout the streets of downtown.

For two hours the parade will be snaking along Riverfront Ave SE, across 6th Avenue, and up 6th Street in front of upwards of 60,000 spectators.

You can show your support by picking up a free Pride flag from the Winners at 128 8th Ave SW, or at the Marshalls at 7337 Macleod Tr SE and waving it like crazy as the parade goes by.

Just like any other time a merry lineup of dancers, floats, and supporters parade down the streets, there will be road closures before, during, and after the parade. Most of 6th Avenue will be shut down from 11 am to 3 pm, and the affected parts of Riverfront Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7 am to 3 pm. A full map of the closures can be found here.

The parade is undoubtably one of the biggest events for Calgary’s Pride weekend, but there are also celebrations before and after Sunday’s Pride Parade, with an entire weekend full of love, acceptance, and a whole lot of dancing.
