Calgary man charged after robbing 5 banks in one month

The Calgary Police Service has charged a Calgary man in relation to five bank robberies that took place in the space of one month.

Willian Joseph Weatherbee, 30, was arrested on September 28 for a theft in downtown Calgary. Police then noticed that he matched the description of a suspected bank robber who had robbed five banks between August 28 and September 25.

Four of the robberies – at two TD Canada Trust buildings, one Scotiabank, and one CIBC – occurred over 10 days from September 14 to 25.

The first robbery was at an ATB Financial on August 28.

Weatherbee has been charged with five counts of robbery, theft under $5,000, possession of methamphetamines for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of other drugs.

His court date is on Tuesday, October 10.
