18 Calgary food events worth checking out this September

Even though summer may be soon be coming to an end, foodie events are still going strong.

There are some awesome fall events on the horizon, and we couldn’t be more excited. From Le Burger Week and the Pride Roadblock Party, all the way to Oktoberfest – this is going to be one delicious month, YYC.

Street Eatery/Le Burger Week

Le Burger Week invites the public to head into participating restaurants (or order via Skip The Dishes, if the establishment offers it) and vote online for their favourite burger. Each restaurant will be offering a special “burger price” for participants to get in on so they can try them all. This year there are 21 venues taking part in Le Burger Week Calgary.

Tea on the Verandah

Head to Heritage Park from September 2 to 4 for an afternoon of delightful tea on the verandah of the historical site’s newest exhibit, the Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women. Enjoy tea and an assortment of freshly baked goodies. Reservations are recommended as seating is limited.

Savour 17 Ave SW: walking tour of RED mile (retail and entertainment district)

A tour guide will greet you at CIBO restaurant on 17th Avenue SW near the corner of 9th Street. From there head to Made by Marcus Micro Creamery, Ollia, Frenchie Wine Bar, Ox Bar de Tapas, and finally, finish at Anju Restaurant. Don’t worry about tabs, tax, and tips – just show up ready to walk and eat!

Palate To Palette: food and art appreciation walking tour

A tour guide will greet you at Yellow Door Bistro at Hotel Arts (119 12 Ave SW) where you’ll enjoy a full brunch and tour of their art collection. From there head to Ten Foot Henry, Gibson Fine Art, Decadent Brûlée, Cookbook Co Cooks, and finally, finish at Metrovino Wines. 25th Annual BBQ on the Bow 

Roll up your sleeves, stock up on napkins, and loosen your belt, BBQ on the Bow is back this Labour Day long weekend. Now in its 25th year, the BBQ Competition and outdoor festival will feature demonstrations by BBQ masters, live entertainment, a kids zone, market place, beer gardens, and–of course–tons of BBQ eats for purchase. Admission to the grounds is totally free.

Sunday Brunch and a Calgary Farmers’ Market Tour

Meet J. Webb Wine Merchants at The Calgary Farmers’ Market where you’ll receive a Yum Bakery pastry, Mediterranean salad, assortment of fruit, Analog coffee, and wine tasting. From there, stroll over to the farmer’s market and hear stories and experience tastings at ten different market vendors offering fresh fruits, vegetables, fruit wines, juices, bison, beef, pork, and cheeses. The Roadblock Party

Pride weekend in Calgary is here! And restaurants are shutting down the street along 17th Avenue to celebrate the whole spectrum of flavours and fashions in the city. Taking place between 2nd and 4th on Sunday, September 3rd, the Roadblock Party is promising a full day of food and beverage specials, pop-up markets, and live music.

Calgary PMA’s Fall Harvest Sale

The Calgary PMA’s Fall Harvest Sale is an Annual Charitable Sale of Fruits and Vegetables and takes place  September 9 and 10 at Heritage Park. This annual event for the Calgary PMA raises money for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Community Kitchen Program of Calgary, and the Heritage Park Society. With a wide variety of produce available including cabbage, carrots, beets, apples, bananas, and tomatoes (and more), this is a chance for the community to stock up and save.

Selkirk Grille Field to Fork Series Garden Tour & Dinner

Calgary Oktoberfest

YYC Pizza Week 2017

The fourth annual YYC Pizza Week is almost here! This year more than 40 local food vendors have signed to support local businesses and charities in Calgary.
