This week may have been something of a rollercoaster – at least as far as the weather is concerned – but we’ve finally made it through to the weekend!
With sunny skies and warm temperatures in the forecast, this is the perfect time to get outside and try out something new. There’s plenty going on around the city, and we’ve thrown together a list of some of our very favourite events.
What: Until March 25, every weekend Banff’s Sulphur Mountain invites you to join them for Family Weekends, which includes epic views, a scavenger hunt, Sugar Shack Maple Toffee, Storytelling, Stargazing, and a Winter Wonderland with fire pits, a carved ice throne, and a massive glass bear. Experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains in a mountaintop family adventure!
Zenstone Coffee offers popular latte art workshops for beginners (@zenstone.coffee/Instagram)
What: Are you a coffee or a tea person? Regardless of your personal preference, these warm and cozy beverages play an important role in both our social and individual lives. This art exhibit will examine these various routines, rituals, and relationships centred around coffee and tea, while showcasing beautiful ceramics made by five Alberta-based artists.
What: Get inspired as you stroll through beautiful photographs taken by the famous and fascinating Frida Kahlo. There are more than 240 pieces that were kept in her home, ‘The Blue House,” for over 50 years under her estate. Visitors will have the opportunity to better understand the woman behind the artist; her origins, her roots, her friendships and romantic relationships, her fragile health, her political tendencies, and her special relationship with photography. This is the first time this exhibition has ever been presented in Canada!

Glide up to the brand-new observation deck of the Banff Gondola summit and discover star clusters, galaxies, the Milky Way, Mars, and the Moon with two professional guides from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. If it turns out to be a cloudy evening, the astronomers will take you inside the terminal where you will continue to learn about these celestial objects. *Dress in winter appropriate clothing and expect cold temperatures and wind!*
