October 13… is not too early to start celebrating Halloween (It’s Friday the 13, after all), and with all the corn mazes, pumpkin festivals, and zombie walks to check out, we won’t blame you if you start the festivities a few weeks early.

For all that and more, here’s a list of Calgary events to check out this weekend. Enjoy!

Check out the Deerfoot City Rec Room

  • What: Cineplex just opened a Rec Room in Calgary, complete with two restaurants, a huge arcade, and a virtual reality room.
  • When: Every day
  • Time: Open at 11 am, closed at midnight on Sunday through Thursday, 1 am on Friday and Saturday. Adults only after 10 pm.
  • Where: Deerfoot City – 1108, 901 64th Avenue NE

Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival 2017

  • What: The Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival is back for it’s third year with an international tattoo competition and over 400 artists.
  • When: Friday, October 13 to Sunday, October 15
  • Time: 4 pm to midnight on Friday, noon to 10 pm on Saturday, and noon to 6 pm on Sunday

22nd Annual Wordfest

  • What: Calling all writers, authors and all those who love and appreciate a good book – this will be 7 days you won’t want to miss out on! Celebrate the written word by experiencing live presentations, panels, industry workshops, art installations and more by 80+ International Bestselling authors and up-and-coming groundbreakers. Come prepared to be connected to with life-changing ideas and engage with like-minded people who share a love of reading and curiosity about the writing life.
