Heading into the second week of January calls for a re-evaluation of those New Years resolutions. Are you still on track, or have you fallen off the wagon already?

Nonetheless, with all the workout deals and outdoor winter events and activities to inspire you, you’re bound to still kick off the year on the right foot.

High Performance Rodeo

  • What: This “rodeo” is a fantastic showcase that animates the city with some of the best live performances from around the world and is essentially known as Calgary’s International Festival of the Arts. This week check out exciting performances, such as Daughter, Make Love not War, Moon Moon No Moon, Onegin and so many more. View the full lineup here!

Pure ’90s

Toonie Day

  • What: Ski Mt. Norquay for only $2 on January 10 – yes that is less than a cup of coffee! If you thought this deal couldn’t get any better, then think again. Not only do you ski for $2, but your money is also donated to a local charity at the end of the season. Help them beat their $20,000 total from last year!

Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team vs AMHL

  • What: In the effort to promote grassroots hockey and support the minor hockey league, Canada’s National Women’s Team will be playing 24 games against the AMHL. Come see them on their road to PyeongChang where they will hopefully bring home their fifth Gold Medal in the Winter Olympic Games.
  • When: Wednesday, January 10 vs Calgary Flames

Thursday, January 11

Adults Only Night: DIY Biology

  • What: Come learn about biology outside of a traditional professional setting and try some new biology on for size!

Go Tubing at Canada Olympic Park

  • What: Calgary’s only tube park is the largest of its kind in Western Canada and now boasts 12 lanes, a four person tube option, and a dedicated magic carpet. A village including a food trailer, a deck with heaters, a fire pit, and washrooms have also been added for the 2017-18 season.
  • When: During the winter season
  • WhereWinSport’s Canada Olympic Park, The Acura Tube Park – 88 Canada Olympic Road SW
  • Admission: Tickets cost $28 for an adult to slide for two hours, and senior, youth, and family discounts are available.

Hit the Slopes

  • What: Getting snow early this year means that our mountainous backyard is waiting for us with a fluffy layer of the white stuff, perfect for winter sports and activities. Take advantage and get some shredding in during this great pre-season, or take your snowshoes for an adventure around one of the many picturesque lakes that the Rockies have to offer.
  • Check the websites for Sunshine, Mount Norquay and Lake Louise to check hours of operation and see which trails are open!

Try out ClassPass

  • What: Mix up your fitness routine by purchasing a ClassPass membership and trying out exciting new fitness classes and studios around the city!
  • Where: See the list of participating studios here.
  • Cost: $25 for three classes, $40 for five classes, and $80 for 10 classes per month

Go ice fishing

  • Looking for a new winter activity to try your hand at? Test the waters with ice fishing. In the city try spots like Chestemere Lake, Bearspaw reservoir, Bruce Lake Ghost Lake and MORE! If you’re looking for more of an epic adventure try out one of the many lakes up in the rockies, or book a guided tour to show you the ropes!

Go Tobogganing 

  • What: This fun outdoor winter activity is one that the whole family can enjoy – no one said it was reserved for children! Bundle up and grab your sled to head to one of the many city-maintained hills for a fun, snowy adrenaline filled afternoon. Don’t forget your helmet!
