Go snowshoeing

  • Take in the crisp outdoor air and the picturesque views as you march your way through the many trails in and around the Calgary area – plus, it’s a great workout! If you’re are more of an inner city roamer, check out Fish Creek Park Or Nose Hill for some fantastic trails closer to home. If you’re interested in taking a drive out to the Rockies, Canmore, Bragg Creek, and Banff all boast unreal trail paths that lead to some magical destinations. Be sure to check trail reports before heading out, and dress for the weather!

Cross country skiing

  • What: Cross Country Skiing can be wildly underestimated as a sport, but it is really a great workout and can be a great way to be active while enjoying the beauty of a snow-covered landscape. The best part is that you don’t even have to go very far from Calgary for a snowy cross-country skiing adventure.
  • Where: Check out one of the many popular cross-country skiing areas within the city, such as Fish Creek Park, Confederation Golf Course, Lakeview Golf Course, or South Glenmore Park. If you are interested in travelling a little bit further, check out areas just outside of the city limits, such as West Bragg Creek, Ribbon Creek, Canmore Nordic Centre, Mt. Shark Trails, or Sandy McNabb. Explore more great cross-country skiing locations within the city and outside Calgary here.

Whales Tohora

The exhibit shows everything from life-size whale skeletons to the evolution of these creatures and understanding how they communicate. There is so much to know about these beautiful beings.
