The stars have aligned and St. Paddy’s Day has finally landed on a Saturday!

While beers and shamrocks may be at the forefront of most people’s minds today, there are also a few other events going on around town to check out if green isn’t quite your style.

No matter what you get up to this Saturday, be sure to have fun, stay safe, and live it up in this beautiful city!

St. Patrick’s Day Macarons

  • What: You saw them all over Instagram last year! Luckily, they’re back again for another year. All week long you can have a beautiful rainbow cloud macaron from Ollia in lieu of St. Paddy’s Day that tastes just as good (if not better) than it looks. The flavour this year is strawberry cheesecake, complete with a candy rainbow and marshmallow clouds. It’s all in the details!

The Black and White Ball

  • What: Teleport back to the roaring ’20s and party with Decidedly Jazz at their annual fundraiser, The Black and White Ball! This black and white affair will have you dancing the night away to the sounds of the famous local band, Penguins on Broadway, and other dazzling musical performances, while you check out the silent auction or bid on balloons full of magical surprises. Don’t be fooled by the name, this is no average party. Prepare yourself for a wild night, great dance moves, and amazing fashion – in all forms. There ain’t no party quite like a Decidedly Jazz party!

There will also be live entertainment provided by the authentic Celtic band, Cabot’s Crossing, that’ll have you dancing the night away well on into the morning – Irish style!

Alberta Ballet Presents: Cinderella 

  • What: This enchanting production of everyone’s favourite love story was imagined by artistic director Christopher Anderson and inspired by the 1697 version by Charles Perrault. You can expect to be transported into the world of hilarious evil step-sisters, a magical fairy-godmother, true love, and a special pair of slippers that change the world of one very special girl. Be prepared to be swept off your feet!

Uncommon Blends

This art exhibit will examine these various routines, rituals, and relationships centred around coffee and tea, while showcasing beautiful ceramics made by five Alberta-based artists.
