Rock the House Run

  • What: Run either 5K or 10K in support of Southern Alberta’s Ronald McDonald House Charity. It’s named “Calgary’s Favourite Family Run” for a reason!
  • Where: The race starts and ends at Market Mall – 3625 Shaganappi Trail NW
  • When: September 17
  • Cost: $15-$45

Market Collective: 9 Year Anniversary 

  • What: Market Collective is celebrating their 9th anniversary with a by hosting a large market full of new and old makers, artists and vendors from all over Alberta. There will also be various interactive art installations, along with food trucks, live music and more! Come celebrate 9 years of community building and the arts here in Calgary!
  • Where: The Yellow Warehouse in Inglewood – 1390 17th Avenue SE
  • When: September 15-17
  • Cost: $5 for the weekend (Kids under 12 are FREE)

Metal Festival

  • What: Calling all metalheads!
  • Where: Various locations around Calgary
  • When: September 17

  • What: Everyone’s favourite interactive art show is back for another year of exciting scientific fun. Explore the city and visit the 14 different sites that are interconnected with a common theme, the ups and downs of the journey of invention. At each stop you can go two different directions. Who knows the where the route you choose will take you!

Go hiking in the Rockies

  • What: It’s larch season! Grab your cameras and hiking gear and enjoy the picturesque fall views from the top of a mountain.

Go on a cemetery tour

  • What: Free, volunteer led tours of Calgary’s historically significant cemeteries.
  • When: Every Sunday until October 29
  • Time: 2 to 3:30 pm
  • Where: Union Cemetery – Meet at Galloway House inside the Union Cemetery gate at Spiller Road and Cemetery Road SE
  • Admission: Free!

Calgary Terry Fox Run

  • What: Join in on the annual Terry Fox run to honour a Canadian hero and continue his journey of raising money for cancer research.
  • When: Sunday, September 17
  • Time: 1 pm
  • Where: 220 St Georges Drive NE
  • Admission: Free, but contributions are welcome

Savour 17 Ave SW: walking tour of RED mile (retail and entertainment district)

  • What: A tour guide will greet you at CIBO restaurant on 17th Avenue SW near the corner of 9th Street. From there head to Made by Marcus Micro Creamery, Ollia, Frenchie Wine Bar, Ox Bar de Tapas, and finally, finish at Anju Restaurant.
  • When: Saturday and Sundays from September 2 to November 26
  • Time: Noon to 3 pm
  • Where: Multiple venues, begin a Cibo, 1012 17 Ave SW
  • Admission: $115; buy online

Sunday Brunch and a Calgary Farmers’ Market Tour

  • What: Meet J. Webb Wine Merchants at The Calgary Farmers’ Market where you’ll receive a Yum Bakery pastry, Mediterranean salad, assortment of fruit, Analog coffee, and wine tasting. From there, stroll over to the farmer’s market and hear stories and experience tastings at ten different market vendors
  • When: Sundays from September 3 to November 26
