We know you’re thinking: How are we already half of the way through 2018? Wild, we know.

June is one of our favourite months, for many reasons. The flowers are blooming, the weather is gorgeous, and the city comes alive!

This month is the perfect time to get outdoors and enjoy all that Calgary has to offer in the summertime. If you’re looking to spend a weekend or two outside of the city, or just want to enjoy the beautiful weather, there are a ton of summer festivities to take part in around the city and up in the mountains. Any reason to head outside sounds good to us!

Cheers to another busy month full of family activities, solo adventures, and exciting date night endeavours. We have rounded up 84 things for you to add to the calendar this month that will keep you and the whole family preoccupied!

Go on a spring hike!

  • What: Now that most of the snow has cleared away, grab your hiking shoes and head up to the Rockies for some fresh mountain air and stunning scenic views – just don’t forget your camera! Try Grassi Lakes, Johnston Canyon, or Grotto Canyon if you’re looking for an adventure a bit shorter in length, but doesn’t compromise the quality of the view. If you’re a thrill seeker and up for the challenge try out Ha Ling Peak, Crypt Lake, or Aylmer Lookout, because the end view will take your breath away – literally! Bike the Banff Legacy Trail

  • What: Take your bike out for a cruise and enjoy the breathtaking scenery that this 22.3 km trail has to offer! The trail links the Town of Banff and Canmore through an additional 4.5 km of pathway outside of Banff National Park boundaries, from the Banff Park East Gate to the Travel Alberta Visitor Information Centre.

Go on a road trip

  • What: Head out for a day trip and explore one of the many amazing spots that surround Calgary! Our city is positioned perfectly between the badlands, prairies, foothills, and the Rockies, which leaves a ton of options for a quick day trip that is no more than a two-hour drive away. Take a cruise around Maligne Lake

  • What: Take a cruise around the largest glacier fed lake in the Canadian Rockies. You’ll be inspired by the beauty of the vibrant blue waters around you as you sail to the iconic Spirit Island (only accessible by boat) on this 90-minute interpretive tour of this magical area.

Ride to support The Tony Kohn-Woodward Foundation. The proceeds from this ride will go towards helping young women struggling to find their way.

Dog Jog
