Get your paddles ready, the Calgary Dragon Boat Race and Festival returns to the city for another year.

This year, the Dragon Boat Society is celebrating 25 years of Dragon Boating in Calgary.

The festival draws over 4,000 spectators on a yearly basis, as well as nearly 2,000 competitors – it’s a spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed.

Every year, the Dragon Boat Festival promises an unforgettable experience that illustrates camaraderie, teamwork, and inspiration. It’s deeply rooted by a 2000-year-old Chinese legend and continues as a tradition to this day.

In addition to the race, you can expect a kid’s play zone, food trucks, live bands, and lots of other great entertainment.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi even had a few words to say about the festival:

Dragon Boat Race and Festival 2016

Where: North Glenmore Park – 7305 Crowchild Trail SW

When: Saturday, August 13 to Sunday, August 14 from 7 am to 6 pm
