7 Calgary concerts for you to check out in June

Calgary’s concert scene this month is a delightfully mixed bag. Musicians that are homegrown here in Canada as well as international stars are heading to Alberta to kick off your summer right.

From classic rock, to indie electronic music, to country, whatever your taste, there’s going to be a show for you in June.

Soul2Soul The World Tour 2017

Starting on April 7th in New Orleans, Louisiana, Soul2Soul is the third tour by American country music artists and Husband and Wife duo, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The show will be hitting both Calgary and Edmonton.

Def Leppard

This British band was formed in 1977 and has been popular ever since. Part of the revolutionary new wave of British heavy metal during the late 70’s and early 80’s, some of their most popular songs are Love Bites, Pour Some Sugar on Me, and Hysteria.

Hollerado

Homegrown in Ottawa, this Canadian indie band was formed in 2007 and has toured extensively across North and South America, Europe and China. Most recently, they released their newest album, Born Yesterday, on April 14th of this year.

Bonnie Raitt

Active in the music scene since 1971 and still going strong, Bonnie Raitt has been playing blues, rock, and Americana with popular hits like Love Sneakin’ Up on You, I Can’t Make You Love Me, and Something to Talk About.

Aly and Fila

The hit Egyptian trance music duo host an internet radio show called Future Sound of Egypt, and founded a label by the same name. While the two still produce music together, only Fila since Aly suffered an ear injury while performing.

Ryan Adams

Musically active since 1991 with no signs of slowing down, this artist works in rock, alternative country and folk rock. His latest album, Prisoner, was released in February of this year.

Zeds Dead

Another electronic music duo, this one is from a little closer to home. Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Roven of Toronto have been active since 2009 and are known for exploring different genres to work into their music with some of their favourites being UK garage, hip-hop, electro house, and glitch.
