Whether you’re after a quick snack or meal, make sure you check out our weekly Cheap Eats post dedicated to affordable and tasty food in Calgary aimed at satisfying your belly without breaking the bank.

Today we’re rounding up a list of vegetarian or veg-friendly spots in the city where you can eat well for under $10.

Madras Cafe

Madras Cafe in SE Calgary specializes in Southern Indian cuisine, and they’ve got hearty vegetarian entrees that fill you up without breaking the bank. Check out their classic dishes that run just $8.99, like their Dhal tadka (lentils), Vegetable khorma, Channa Masala, Aloo gobi, and Baingan bhartha (eggplant). On the weekends, for $10.99, feast on their Thali (buffet) of veggie dishes.

Buddha’s Veggie

True, Calgary’s beloved Buddha’s Veggie added meat to their menu, but they still serve a number of dishes that, when paired with an appetizer and shared with someone, will have you in under $10 a person. Their lunch specials, served weekdays, run just $8.90, so midday is the best time to fill up at Buddha’s Veggie.

Flipp’n Burgers

Yes, this is a burger joint. But they also happen to have more than just the stereotypically blah option for vegetarians, offering instead three flavour-packed items for vegetarians, and without a big price. The Organic Vegan Burger is $8, the Black Bean Burger is $7.50, and their Falafel Dog is $7.50.
