Bring your Pinterest board to life with 3 new workshops

Dec 13 2016, 2:29 am

We love to imagine what our houses could look like, and the Calgary Renovation Show is helping you make those daydreams a reality.

This is the first year the Calgary Renovation Show is running under its new name – before it was known as the Calgary Home Expo. But one thing that hasn’t changed is its slew of different attractions, including appearances and talks from some of the top names in Canada’s renovation industry, as well as tons of different vendors and workshops.

One of this year’s biggest hits will be the Interiors to Inspire workshop series, which will help you create your own handcrafted decor with guidance from some of Calgary’s best design experts.

Furniture rehab

When

  • January 13, 3:30 to 5:30 pm
  • January 14, 10 am to noon
  • January 15, 3:30 to 5:30 pm

Price: $105

Furniture rehab will teach you how to change up your decor without breaking the bank. You’ll learn how to use different paints and stains to alter the look of furniture – and you’ll get a chance to practice on a wooden crate. No experience is necessary to get the most out of this workshop, although you’ll want to wear some painting clothes.

Cabinet rehab

When

  • January 13, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
  • January 14, 3:30 to 5:30 pm
  • January 15, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Price: $105

This workshop gives people the chance to take their older cabinets and breathe some fresh life into them. Cabinet rehab will teach you how to restyle your cabinetry using paints and glazes, going over everything from prep to painting to the finishing touches. No experience is necessary, and all materials are provided by Interiors to Inspire. However, it is highly recommended you wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on.

Shiplap/Barnwood

When

    • January 13, 12:30 to 2:30 pm
    • January 14, 12:30 to 2:30 pm
    • January 14, 6:30 to 8:30 pm
    • January 15, 1 to 3 pm

Price: $105

This workshop is all about getting the country chic aesthetic without paying exorbitant prices. The Shiplap and Barnwood workshop will give you the tools you need to create rustic-looking wood using different paint and stain techniques. The workshop will also cover how to install a feature wall using your brand-new rustic wood. No experience is required, although paint clothes are highly recommended.

These workshops are taking place on all three days of the Calgary Renovation Show. You’ll need to register for each course on the Interiors to Inspire website – each course costs $105, but when you register, you’ll also get free admission to the Renovation Show on that day.

Tickets to the event are ordinarily $12 for adults, although you get a $3 discount when you purchase online.
