Chef, author, and television personality Anthony Bourdain has died at the age of 61.

The host of CNN’s Parts Unknown was reportedly found by his close friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert, according to the network which is reporting the cause of death as suicide.

“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” writes CNN in a statement. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”

Bourdain, famous for sharing his insights into the restaurant world and later for televised travels and adventurous appetite, helped introduce global cuisines to audiences around the world.

In Canada, Bourdain forged friendships with prominent chefs and dedicated multiple episodes to showcasing regional cuisines from across the country. Just recently he shared on Twitter that, “I am resolute in my love for Canada.” Canada loved him too.
